Un Boricua Por El Mundo

Freelance

Un Boricua Por El Mundo is a Puerto Rican travel influencer that sells his brand’s merchandise and provides other traveling enthusiasts information regarding places to visit in Puerto Rico and travel information about other places around the globe. My mission was to design a new e-commerce/blog website for the company.

The Task

Un Boricua Por El Mundo’s online store design had a very simplistic look  with no additional pages other than the contact page. I was tasked with developing a brand new website that would still have the e-commerce side of it, but would also have an adventure blog and all the necessary areas of a complete business website. The main goal was to increase the business’ online image and provide it’s client a more friendly website that could have more to offer than just an online store.

The old website was previously developed with BigCartel, but I decided to develop the new one using WordPress + Elementor due to the additional options that I would have in order to create a nice and clean web page. Furthermore, people can create their accounts to comment on blog posts, review products, keep track of their orders and even store their billing information for faster checkout.

Nevertheless, the website’s e-commerce section was developed using the WooCommerce tool. This helped with setting up the proper functionalities of the website’s store section.

SSL Secured Website

In order to have a secured and trustworthy e-commerce website it is important to have a SSL Certificate. For this I implemented CloudFlare’s service, because it helps improve the website’s security and performance.  In addition to that I found it to be very reliable for websites that need proper protection at all times.

An e-commerce implementation

In order to maintain the business flow that the old website had I incorporated Printful’s service that my client was using into the WooCommerce tool. This allowed to merge the store part of the website with Printful’s print-on-demand services. Any item that the client would add in their Printful account it would automatically be added to the store. Furthermore, whenever a customer buys an item the order then transfers to Printful to get it printed, packed and shipped. Therefore creating a seamless interaction between the order and shipment.

Additionally, the customer can check on the order section of their account the progress of their order. If the client has no account when they bought an item the website will still send personalized emails to keep them informed of their order.

Additional Information

Aside from the store section, other areas of the website include an adventure/travel blog and a travel gallery. Overall, it was a nice experience to develop an e-commerce/blog website centered around traveling and it helped to improve my overall web design skills by utilizing additional tools that I had not used before.
